Betty changes the way people feel about hearing aids. Half the people in this country fitted with hearing aids are unhappy with them. No wonder people put off getting the help they need. People are afraid of making a bad decision about their hearing. As Co-Owner of Avalon Hearing Aid Centers, Betty is passionate about educating and informing you on what it takes to be happy with hearing instruments. She does this through her monthly ALL EARS column in Senior Magazine. She also educates people through her powerful and informative presentations at local clubs and organizations. Betty teaches two monthly Hearing Health Classes packed full of information you need if you're thinking about getting help for your hearing. She explains everything to you in plain English, and makes it fun! The people who attend her classes are so well informed about their hearing that they make the best decisions possible for themselves and their families. Dr. Rachel Walters, CCC-A, FAAA
Doctor of Audiology and Hearing Healthcare Provider
Meet Rachel Walters, a passionate Audiologist with a brilliant mind and a loving heart. At age 4, Rachel learned to sign in order to communicate with a deaf child on her street. Rachel is fluent in American Sign Language and understands what it means to struggle with hearing loss. Rachel was unable to communicate with her grandfather because of his severe hearing loss and poor technology in the 1980's. "My grandfather died when I was twelve. I wish I had access to today's hearing aids back then so that I could have talked with my grandfather. There was so much I wanted to ask him.” She graduated Magna Cum Laude with her BA in Speech and Hearing Sciences in 1997, and then graduated first in her class with her Masters in 1999. Rachel earned her Doctorate in Audiology in March 2008. Rachel's ten years of experience includes four years with Newport Audiology/Secure Horizons in Sacramento and running her own clinic. But, she found herself working more on business and less with patients. So, she’s joined the Avalon family. Rachel says "I treat my patients like family so when I found Avalon I knew it was a match!"
